Etymology

Perhaps from a modified short form of エレクトリック・ギター (erekutorikku gitā).[1] Compare エレキテル (erekiteru). Also compare ケーキ (kēki, cake), デッキ (dekki, dekki), プロキシ (purokishi, proxy) for the use of (ki) instead of the typical (ku) to transcribe the foreign sound /k/. (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
