ㅂ니까 • (mnikka)
- (interrogative suffix for sentence-final verbs in the 하십시오체 (hasipsioche, “formal polite”) speech level)
- How are you? (formal, literally, "Are [you] well/peaceful?")
ㅂ니까 (mnikka) is used after verbs and adjectives with no finals or ㄹ, which falls out. E.g. 가다 + ㅂ니까 = 갑니까 Will you go?, 알다 + ㅂ니까 = 압니까 "Do you know?"
습니까(seumnikka) is used otherwise, that is, after verbs and adjectives with finals that are not ㄹ. E.g. 먹다 + 습니까 = 먹습니까 "Do you eat?"
