Etymology

Originally produced from the 片栗 (かたくり, katakuri, katakuri lily) (Lua error in Module:taxlink at line 68: Parameter "noshow" is not used by this template.), hence the term, it in now largely produced from potatoes, as these are much cheaper, but the term is retained.
