From *gฤuลก (โ€œcowโ€) + uncertain element *barvah, perhaps meaning โ€œeatingโ€, compare Younger Avestan ๐ฌ€๐ฌฑยท๐ฌ ๐ฌ€๐ฌŠ๐ฌŽ๐ฌญ๐ฌŽ๐ฌŽ๐ฌ€ (aลกยทbaouruua, โ€œwhere there is much to eatโ€), or โ€œlord, masterโ€, compare Sanskrit เคญเคฐเฅ (bharu, โ€œlord, masterโ€).[1][2][3][4]
