Etymology[edit]

Possibly from Middle Persian 𐭩π­₯𐭣𐭲𐭠𐭬𐭫𐭰 (yΚΏdtΚΎmlc), which was made from 𐭩π­₯𐭣𐭲𐭠 (yΚΏdtΚΎ, β€œseparate”) +‎ 𐭬𐭫𐭰 (mlc, β€œborder”), see Proto-Indo-Iranian *yaw- and Persian Ω…Ψ±Ψ² for more details.
