[edit]Derived from Common Turkic *čïbša- (“to sour”).[1] Cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (çuvşāmāk, “to sour”), [script needed] (çuvşātmāk, “to make sour”), [script needed] (çıvşātmāk, “to make sour”), [script needed] (çıvşāŋ, “sour”).
