Borrowed from Scythian *Frakāna (leader, chief), composed of a cognate of Khotanese , itself from Scythian *frāk (forward), and of Avestan 𐬟𐬭𐬀𐬐𐬀 (fraka, forward, adjective) + the patronymic suffix *-āna.[1]
