[edit]Inherited from Ancient Greek ἀτελείωτος (ateleíōtos), morphologically α- (a-, “un-, a-, not”, privative) + τελειώ(νω) (teleió(no), “I finish”) + -τος (-tos). Shift of stress backwards dates from Medieval era. Compare to the learned borrowing ατελείωτος (ateleíotos).
