Most likely of Slavic origin, compare Russian ну́дить (núditʹ, to compel; exhaust, tire), нуди́ть (nudítʹ, to talk monotonously or annoyingly; bore; annoy), Russian ну́дный (núdnyj, tedious), Ukrainian ну́дити (núdyty), нуди́ти (nudýty), Belarusian нудзі́ць (nudzícʹ), Old Church Slavonic ноудити (nuditi, to force, to compel). See Proto-Slavic *nùditi for further.
