From Sogdian 𐼼𐼷𐼿𐼰𐼸𐼳 (sycʾkh), 𐼼𐼷𐼿𐼰𐼸𐼸 (sycʾkk, sparrow), diminutive of 𐼼𐼷𐼿𐼷 (sycy, sparrow) (whence Proto-Turkic *seče (sparrow)), contaminated into جغنه (jağna, jağana), جغنک (jağanak), جغنگ (jağang), جغن (jağan), زغن (zağan, kite), from زاغ (zāğ, rook).[1]
