Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Balto-Slavic *-īt-i̯o-. Cognates include Lithuanian -ytis and Proto-Slavic *-iťь.

Suffix[edit]

-ītis, -īte

  1. Added to nouns to form diminutives. The masculine (-ītis) is added to masculine nouns, and the feminine (-īte) to feminine nouns.
