Etymology[edit]

From Iranian *-čan. Compare Parthian -cn(-čan) in šʾdcn(šād-čan, happy), Sogdian -cn(-čan, inclined to; belonging to), ultimately from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kan-, *čan-(to love, take pleasure in).
