    Related to -அர் (-ar).

    -ஆர் (-ār)

    1. third person plural suffix of the rational class; also used as an honorific for the singular.
      வந்த (vanta) + ‎-ஆர் (-ār) → ‎வந்தார் (vantār, they came)
    2. epicene honorific suffix.
      தகப்பன் (takappaṉ) + ‎-ஆர் (-ār) → ‎தகப்பனார் (takappaṉār)
