From Timothy +‎ -oy, diminutive of English Timothy, from Middle French Timothée, from Latin Timotheus, from Ancient Greek Τιμόθεος (Timótheos), from τιμάω (timáō, I honour) + θεός (theós, god). Also a diminutive of Timoteo.
