Romanian

Etymology

Borrowed from Latin susurrō through French susurrer. The presence of shushuredz, shushurari in Aromanian prompted some to attribute it directly to Latin, though this is improbable, and the Aromanian is probably an onomatopoetic expression.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /su.suˈra/
  • Audio:(file)

Verb

a susura (third-person singular present susură, past participle susurat) 1st conj.
