Ultimately from Turkish çekiç, from Ottoman Turkish چكیچ (çekiç), from Old Anatolian Turkish çekük, Proto-Turkic *čekük, *čeküč (hammer), possibly through an intermediate Proto-Slavic *čekanъ.
