(compare Hindi भौंह (bha͠uh)), from Sanskrit भ्रू (bhrū) (whence Pali bhū, Konkani भुव (bhuv)), ultimately from Proto-Indo-Iranian *HbʰrúHs, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃bʰrúHs (whence Old English brū (English brow)).
