From Proto-Indo-Aryan *íṣṭakaH, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ištaH (“brick”), possibly from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "qfa-sub-bma" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF..[1][2] Cognate with Avestan 𐬌𐬱𐬙𐬌𐬌𐬀 (ištiia, “brick”), Persian خشت (xešt, “brick”).
