Etymology

Similar to Proto-Kartvelian *r̥ka- (“horn”), see also Georgian რქა (rka).[1] Fick and Prellwitz derived it from Proto-Indo-European *h₂ergʰ- (“to begin, rule”) (compare Ancient Greek ἄρχω (árkhō, “I rule, govern, begin”)), but Boisacq regards the connection as dubious.[2]
