bities - biting insects
bitzer - a mongrel dog (bits of this and bits of that)
blowie - a common blow fly
bluey - a bluebottle

mozzie or mozzy – a mosquito
muddy - a mud crab (a great delicacy)
roo - a kangaroo
yabby - a small inland freshwater crayfish found in Australia (Cherax destructor) (from Wembawemba)
