"Bantu languages"

[edit]

The word "bantu" is a derogatory word which was used by white South Africans during the apartheid system to refer to all black South Africans. This word was used to mock them and it was degrading. During protests against the apartheid system black South Africans would chant "nathi singa bantu" meaning we are also people just like you, why are you doing this to us? The word has the same meaning as the word "nigger" used to refer to all black Americans during slavery. This word is continued to be used by some white South Africans in their private spaces and Internet spaces where they think no one will take notice. Andile07 (talk) 20:54, 13 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
