English[edit]

Etymology[edit]

The recent use of this name is due to the American singer Beyoncé Knowles (born 1981), after her mother's maiden name, which was different from her own parents' surname, Beyincé, due to a clerical error on her birth certificate. It is probably derived from the French surname Boyancé.
