These nouns are feminine, typically with the following endings:
- in the nominative singular: -ī;
- in the genitive singular: -ijā after a heavy root, -jā with West Germanic gemination after a light root;
- in the nominative plural: -ijō after a heavy root, -jō with West Germanic gemination after a light root.
The stem classes are named from the perspective of Proto-Germanic and may not still be visible in Proto-West Germanic inflections.
