Redirect to "auto racing".

[edit]

"Auto racing" is preferable to "Motor racing", as:

  1. Wikipedia has W:Category:Auto racing, with W:Category:Motor racing only as a redirect"
  2. "Auto racing" has much higher hit rate than "Motor racing".

No, "Auto racing" isn't acceptable; it doesn't mean the same thing. (um, motorcycles? ;-). And most of this terminology is from European/international sport, where it is "motor racing", US parochialism notwithstanding. Think this was discussed somewhere before. Okay. I am sorry; I could have been a bit slower in this action. Do you have a link to the discussion? I have found nothing in the talk pages of the two categories, so I thought the topic has not been discussed before. --Daniel Polansky 11:28, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Synonyms to auto racing

[edit]

Then the synonyms given in auto racing entry are probably wrong, and someone in the know should better remove those that are unfitting. --Daniel Polansky 11:41, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Motor racing" a supercategory of "Auto racing"

[edit]

I have now turned "Motor racing" into a supercategory of "Auto racing", based on your feedback, and on the assumption that motor racing also includes other types of racing, like motorcycle racing. --Daniel Polansky 11:49, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
