Notice[edit]

I've been trying to complete as many of these as I can, assuming that when applicable, they're from Latin via Old French. If they're not, then of course change them. I'm confident about the Latin roots but not as confident about which are borrowing and which are inherited from its parent language Old French. Same with Category:Requests for etymology (Guernésiais) and Category:Requests for etymology (Walloon) (when I get that far). Mglovesfun (talk) 10:53, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe hedge your bets then by putting "Ultimately from Latin...". You have to be careful with Jerriais because it also borrowed a lot from modern French, and also from English words which are themselves from French... Ƿidsiþ 10:56, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
