ABC, acronym for the weary sentiment 'Anything But Chardonnay (or Cabernet)' which encouraged interest in grapes other than the (two most famous) International Varieties on the part of both producers and consumers.

Dismukes is said to have been instrumental in getting Jackie Robinson to sign with the Monarchs in 1945. He became one of the very few ABCs to be paid by a major league baseball team when he became a scout for the New York Yankees in 1953–54 and the Chicago White Sox in 1955–56.
