English citations of Alósaka

  • 1899 July, J. Walter Fewkes, “The Alósaka Cult of the Hopi Indians”, in American Anthropologist[1], volume 1, number 3, pages 522-544:
By interrogating Indians regarding the images, he has found that they represent beings called Alósakas, the cult of which, practised at Awatobi, still survives in the rites of the modern Hopi pueblos. Many legends concerning Alósaka have been collected, but only during the last few years has the author witnessed ceremonies connected with their cult.
