the only [Japanese] people buying them [Xbox One consoles] are extreme westaboos or people who want to play one of the few Japanese exclusives, Raiden V.

american soldiers wanted turkey on xmas but there was none so they settled for the next best thing (kfc). kfc used that as a marketing strat to get all the westaboos (i.e. all of japan) to believe it's an american tradition and it looks like it stuck :^)

So...what's with the names in this game? Japanese family name, western first name. Are they like, Westaboos or something
2018 March 27, Noah Blum (@neontaster), Twitter[21]:
Sure. There's also the varying individual styles. A lot of mangaka are considered "westaboos" and if you watch something like Black Lagoon, it's totally inspired by American action movies (and some Hong Kong as well).

japan's had a lot of westaboos since meiji times lol. although i think a chunk of the 'westernness but different' vibe people perceive in japan comes out of the american occupation as well

Doesn't help that Yoshida is a giant westaboo, which explains their first party output.

Wild Arms is like what if a bunch of westaboos made a video game

2020 August 24, Arthur Chu (@arthur_affect), Twitter[26]:

I do wonder how valuable a book, written in English, about the U.S. NES lineup only, is to a Japanese audience... though if this is the shop I'm thinking of, it specifically caters to expats and the odd "westaboo"
2021 June 24, Dustin Smith (@Varitok), Twitter[28]:
The irony of someone like Kojima laughing at someone for being obsessed with another countries culture while he is a chronic westaboo.
Kojima is a massive westaboo but he certainly enjoys Japanese media. I still remember that time Conan O’Brien visited his office and spent the whole visit making fun of Kojima’s Ultraman figurine.
