Etymology[edit]

From Medieval Latin Ermeroti, a genitive form of the personal name Ermerote, from a Suevic or Gothic personal name, from a compound of Proto-Germanic *ermunaz (“whole”) and *hrōþiz (“fame, glory”).[1] Toponyms with the same etymon include Ermelode, name of an uninhabited place in Moraña, Pontevedra; and Esmorode, a village in Santa Comba, A Coruña.
