Luxembourgish

Etymology

From Middle High German hœhede, from Old High German hōhida, from Proto-Germanic *hauhiþō; equivalent to héich +‎ -t. The Luxembourgish form is either from an early contraction (Middle High German *hœchte) or more probably from the archaic variant Héit by re-adaptation to the underlying adjective. Cognate with Dutch hoogte, English height.
