Discussion[edit]

Start[edit]

A very nice start, thanks EP (you were one of my first choice editors for writing this page). I suggest adding something explaining what is happening at [[die]] (the sub-definitions - ## - double pound sign). These can be valuable. --Rising Sun 10:33, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I considered the issue of numbered subsenses, but that approach isn't standard here, and not everyone seems to agree about using them. They're more experimental at this point than anything, and are seldom used. So, I'm inclined to side-step that issue for now, unless and until they become a more widely accepted format here. --EncycloPetey 15:37, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Something to include[edit]

I remember there being discussion about how definitions shouldn't start with "what", "where", or "when". I don't remember the reasoning (though I agree they look unprofessional) or if simple corrections were mentioned.

PS - Feel free the snipe items from WT:STYLE that really should be at this page now. --Bequw¢τ 14:21, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?[edit]

Can this be merged with Wiktionary:Style guide, which tries to cover much of the same territory? -- Visviva 04:55, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
