[edit]From Middle Low German erdbere, from Old Saxon erdberi, form Proto-West Germanic *erþubaʀi, from Proto-Germanic *erþōbazją. Equivalent to Ieed (“earth”) + Bäa (“berry”). Compare Saterland Frisian Äidbäie, German Erdbeere.
