Borrowed from Ancient Greek Μαρδοχαῖος (Mardokhaîos), derived from Biblical Hebrew מָרְדֳּכַי (Mārdoḵay) and ultimately from Akkadian 𒀭𒀫𒌓𒂗𒋗𒉡 (dAMAR.UTU-EN-šu-nu) or Elamite 𒈥𒁺𒋡 (Marduku)
