Why does this exist?

[edit]

@Huhu9001 This duplicates one of the main functions of Module:scripts; you've just added some extra subdivisions that you end up concatenating anyway (which makes them pointless). Why did you make this? Theknightwho (talk) 08:34, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Because there are many small differences in the ranges that Japanese modules use. Like whether to include punctuations or something like ゟ or not. Module:scripts/data packs them altogether and it is not useful. -- Huhu9001 (talk) 08:43, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Huhu9001 So the change obviously needs to be made to Module:scripts, instead of diverging just for one language. Theknightwho (talk) 08:47, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Obviously recently the general utility modules are a mess and I don't want to touch it now. Maybe later sometime when it has become more stable. -- Huhu9001 (talk) 08:54, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Another reason will be I think changes to these basic data affecting many pages (Chinese will surely be affected too) need some discussion and consensus. Maybe I am just not bold enough. -- Huhu9001 (talk) 08:57, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Huhu9001 No, that is no excuse: you are making a mess that needs to be cleaned up later by diverging like this. Also, Chinese would not be affected, because this affects the Jpan script code. Theknightwho (talk) 09:12, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Jpan contains Hani. Do some confirmation before speaking.
m["Jpan"] = {
	"Japanese",
	ws.LogographySyllabary,
	characters = m["Hira"].characters .. m["Kana"].characters .. m["Hani"].characters .. m["Latn"].characters,
	spaces = false,
}

@Huhu9001 Yes it does, but I also know that it's possible to modify Jpan without changing Hani itself. Do some confirmation before speaking :) Theknightwho (talk) 09:25, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, use :):):):) more and it makes you look less like trolling. Have fun here if you want, I have other things to do. -- Huhu9001 (talk) 09:29, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
