Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Indo-Iranian *kaćúš. Cognate with Sanskrit कशु (kaśú), Middle Persian 𐫞𐫍𐫏𐫅 (qhyd), [Book Pahlavi needed] (kʾhyt /⁠kāhēd⁠/, to diminish).[1]
