This word is often found in a compound with the meaning of "birthmark" or "mole" in descendant languages (cf. Khmer ប្រជ្រុយ (prɑcruy), Vietnamese mụt ruồi, nốt ruồi, Khmu ʔiək rɔːj).

Cognate with Santali ᱨᱳ (ro, fly).
