Etymology[edit]

Anyone know of a reference that this word could mean "glutton" or "eater"? Etymologically it makes sense, it would be related to Sanskrit व्यद्वर (vyadvara, rodent, gnawing animal), which together with Germanic show two independent thematic derivations of a preform *h₁ed-wr̥, oblique *h₁(e)d-un-, which is reflected in Ancient Greek εἶδαρ (eîdar, food).
