The German verb "gären" is not from this. It's a strong verb and Grammatischer Wechsel was removed in favour of the past forms, which is a fairly common development in German, cf. verlieren, schlagen, etc. I'm leaving it here for now, because I'm lazy, and also because it's not entirely ruled out that the causative might have influenced the development. 90.186.83.177 23:19, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
