The Old Norse word fjǫlrœðr (much talked about), points straightforwardly to being derived from *rōdijaną (to speak (of)). The Old Norse compound tírœðr (decimal; hundred years old; hundred-measuring), rather points to a meaning of "ordered, arranged, counted", from an earlier meaning in the root, cf. *radą, *radō.
