Reconstructed sounds
[edit]Daijisen and Daijirin, among other sources, both suggest that modern およぐ may be shift from older およく, without voicing. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 23:40, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
- Daijirin is no longer available at Kotobank. The KDJ entry is here, and that also notes that this may have been oyoku in older times. The KDJ lists a first attestation only from The Tale of Genji, circa 1000 CE.
- Searching in ONCOJ for
\boyok
or\boyog
produces zero results, indicating that neither form oyogu nor oyoku exist in the (currently available) Old Japanese corpus. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 06:32, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
