Alternative reconstruction?
[edit]The KDJ seems to trace trace modern 悪い (warui) to older form わろし (waroshi). Daijirin's and Daijisen's entries here on Kotobank are less conclusive, only going so far as to state that warushi and waroshi were used in parallel during the Heian.
