Northern Sami vowel length[edit]

@Tropylium Álgu gives a short vowel for the Northern Sami term, but etymologically it must surely be long. Do you have any idea what would have shortened it? Long vowels shorten before long preaspirates and overlong consonants, but not before any other consonants as far as I'm aware. —Rua (mew) 13:03, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't seem to "give a short vowel" as much as quote the word from a source that does not distinguish long and short u. --Tropylium (talk) 20:06, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
