On the subject of the Bulgar word

[edit]

Are we sure that the Bulgar word is of genuine quality and not a borrowing? Is there any other instance where -ń- becomes -n-? Even something like bo:ń had its -ń turned into -j in Chuvash whilst keeping it -yn- in most other languages. Yorınçga573 (talk) 10:37, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure. Kashgari's Bolghar records are not 100% reliable because he wrote his work in Baghdad and has never been between Bulgars. There are only a few records. BurakD53 (talk) 22:44, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
If it is a borrowing, from who? BurakD53 (talk) 22:45, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Dunno, probably from a language that preserved the -ń- so an old CTr one? Yorınçga573 (talk) 23:16, 6 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
