Etymology

A shortening of French Nadouessioux, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ojibwe naadawesiwag (little snakes), which could refer to the massasauga snake (Lua error in Module:taxlink at line 68: Parameter "ver" is not used by this template.), a small rattlesnake.
