Proposed (more detailed) etymology:

from Turkish bozuk saz, a variety of bağlama (long-necked fretted lute) that is the bouzouki's Turkish counterpart, from bozuk düzen, a particular re-entrant tuning that was commonly used on the bozuk saz, from bozuk, meaning "broken" or "modified" + düzen, meaning "tuning"

descendants: Albanian buzuk, Arabic بزق (buzuq/bozuq/bouzouk/buzuk), Bosnian bozuk 173.89.236.187 08:14, 2 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
