- @Majagaja Yes, he did. Vasmer however is known to have various errors handling less common languages like Gothic, Mongolian, etc. so the fact that this is erroneous doesn't surprise me. His original reads as follows (modulo italics, typos, etc.):
- Древнее заимств. из гот. *garazds "говорящий разумно" от приставки ga- и razda "язык"; ср. др.-исл. rǫdd "звук, голос", др.-англ. reord "голос, язык", д.-в.-н. rarta "голос"; см. Бернекер 1, 330; Уленбек, AfslPh 15, 487; Кречмер, AfslPh 27, 232 и сл.; Mi. Fremdw. 90. Древнее знач. сохраняется еще в венг. garázda "сварливый". Следует отклонить попытки объяснить слово как исконнослав.: сближение с в.-луж. hrono "речь" (Ильинский, ИОРЯС 16, 4, 8; Брюкнер, AfslPh 42,143; KZ 43, 307) или же с го́рдый, горсть, греч. ἀγείρω (Стендер -- Петерсен, "Slavia", 5, стр. 675 и сл.; Кипарский 28). Фонетические трудности в случае предположения заимствования из гот. устраняются, вопреки Кипарскому. Ср. гра́мота, кора́бль.

- @Benwing2:. Okay. Since it's a reconstructed term anyway it's not such a big deal, but maybe we could just say "from Gothic, from Proto-Germanic *ga- + *razdō" rather than repeating his weird spelling. —Mahāgaja (formerly Angr) · talk 17:56, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
