Judging from Prince Meščerskij's quotation, the term may not always induce a pejorative meaning or at least at the time of the prince's life it may not have induced it. Or mayhap the prince uses it in an unusually neutral way? The uſer hight Bogorm converſation 07:47, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think he uses a figure of speech here. “Неуч” is still pejorative but is contrasted with good characteristics, like honesty and good nature. --Vahagn Petrosyan 08:32, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
