I think رومی (rumi) is probably a New Persian formation (the components being from Middle Persian). I've found رومایی / رومائی (rumâyi) in Nazim al-Atibba' Dictionary,[1] though it doesn't mention any citation. --Z 09:47, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
