This is a learned borrowing but as far as I know, it is not used in Classical Syriac with the meaning “should” or “ought to” (correct me if I’m wrong), the native word in modern assyrian is ܫܘܼܕšud, as least in the Nineveh plains dialect. So to me it doesn’t make sense to add borrowings to our language from foreign languages that Assyrians never used, and which go against their native meaning, assuming that this is taken a foreign non-Assyrian Aramaic language. If it’s used like this in Iraqi Koine, then it’s best to acknowledge that instead of stating it as inherited, and it would be good to add sources since it’s not natively inherited Shuraya (talk) 01:33, 24 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
