Th or T

[edit]

@Antonklroberts Why was this word changed to ܡܪܬ݁ܚ rather than ܡܪܬ݂ܚ? Being the causative of ܪܬ݂ܚ it should be a ܬ݂. In classical Syriac and others, the causitive/aphel stem often had differences in qushaya and rukkaxa because of bgadkpat rules but this isn’t the case for the system in modern Assyrian, where the aphel/causitive is entirely based on the peal stem, so I’m wondering if there’s a different reason you had? I guess its true the bgadkpat rules aren’t as strict in modern assyrian I’ve just learnt it as in the Pael it is QāRēR and Aphel is maQQiR with some exceptions such as gutterals or silibants.
That being said modern assyrian especially tends to ignore these rules such as ayta often pronounced etha in Dashta dialect.
Hope I explained that well :) Antonklroberts (talk) 02:28, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the reply! could we then change this to ܡܲܪܬ݂ܸܚ as is the system in modern Assyrian?
.
And just a side note, as a feature of all modern dialects, when the last 2 consonants of the Peal (pā3ēl) stem are the same (qarir) the middle one turns to Yodh (qarir>qayir, xapip>xayip, xamim>xayim, daqiq>dayiq, zamim>zayim etc),
.
also, the aphel stem (map3il) of medial vowels would be like maqyər ܡܲܩܝܪ, yielding maqjir ܡܲܩܝ̱ܪ in dialects that keep the schwa on after SECOND consonant in a 3-consonant cluster, and maqir ܡܲܩ̱ܝܪ in dialects that shift the schwa after the FIRST consonant :) Shuraya (talk) 04:14, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
